I find this article really interesting, especially when you learn that Aalto has such a contrast of the use of timber. One being for the use of decoration, the other being a use for the variations of form in the wooden detailing for the purposes of acoustic in the building, which is a really effective method on using the material. I found this article really easy to read and follow, however I also think it could have been expanded a bit more and possibly have given a few examples of his previous work to show the comparison of how he uses the timber in different ways. I can see some similarities between this architect and Frank Lloyd Wright in terms of the organic style and having a relationship with nature and the surroundings, also with the material choices of concrete, glass, wood and brick. This is referring to Wright’s Fallingwater design where fitting in with the context using natural materials.
